Of course they do

Via warns that my motherboard is incompatible with the hard drive I just ordered. I read this after my order shipped. Of course.

The good news is that Newegg is awesome and they’ll allow me to just refuse the package, thus effectively cancelling the order without incurring a restocking fee. How well that actually works remains to be seen.

And then I’ll just go and buy the same drive I have now as a backup drive. More speed would’ve been nice, but I can do without.

PC fiddling goodness

I swear, they have this down to a science:

Serial Number Drive Type TLA Number Status/Message Expiration Date (mm/dd/yyyy)
664209502566 ATA VQ80Y011-01-A-E Out of warranty 07/01/2005

It died today. Of course it did.

On the upside, that means I can get a spiffy new SATA drive. Ooooh!

Well actually, Newegg doesn’t carry that one. They only have the 200GB model, which will have slightly lower transfer speeds, because, you see, transfer speed depends on areal density of the disk. Drats.

Oooh! Shiny! Red wuffie! Weee!!!!

Er. Yes. So, I’ll buy the 200GB model. I could wait, but I don’t feel cozy without a backup drive. They are super-whisper-quiet, that’s the reason I buy these.

In slightly (only slightly) less nerdy news, “Get Behind Me Satan” by “The White Stripes” is a giggle-inducing album that makes me happy.

In even nerdier news, I got lots of new Gamecube games.

“Pikmin” appeals to the demented gardener in me. I highly recommend it. You pull these plant dudes from the earth – the “Pikmin” – and use them to solve puzzles. Wacky, weird, and lots of fun.

“Burnout 2″ is a fun racer for now and then. I’m no big racer fan, so kinda Meh – but the crazy driving is still fun. This is a game that encourages you to cut people off and crash in spectacular ways.

“Viewtiful Joe” has gotten rave reviews, and I can’t get into it. Definitely Meh.
